Today my Summer Learning Journey task is about charity that I'm interested in. There is a list of the charities and you can add your own but it has to be a real charity. The one I picked from the list is SPCA. I will tell you two facts about this charity.
The SPCA was made in England in 1824. And it was a about animals. The movement to protect animals was brought to New Zealand by the early settlers, and a number of SPCAs sprung up in New Zealand from 1872.
And the last fact about SPCA is they take care of stray animals and protect them. They are responsible for protecting and caring for the lost abandoned animals. You can also adopt a pet if you want. And each year, they help about 1.5 million shelter animals are safe. About 670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats saved per year.

The SPCA does an amazing job, don't they? Did you know that you can volunteer at your local SPCA? I've also wanted to help look after the dogs. If you could volunteer, which animals would you most like to help care for?
